Those Nuts and Kooks Out in San Francisco . . . Again
It seems that Spocko, a blogger who, by his own admission, has a daily traffic count of about fifteen readers, has been waging a campaign against KSFO, a right-wing San Francisco radio station (attention rest of the world: yes, there actually are enough right-wing conversatives in SF to warrant an entire radio station) by sending audio clips of rather highly objectionable commentary to the station’s advertisers. Two of their sponsors, Bank of America and MasterCard, have pulled some if not all of their advertising from the station.
So KSFO, which is owned by ABC/Disney, had its lawyers fire off a threatening letter to Spocko’s internet service provider demanding that he pull the offensive audio clips, which just escalated the radio station’s exposure to a national level. Now, as reported on local television stations, newspapers, Daily Kos and in a number of other internet hotspots, everyone gets to join in the act. Instead of just being seen by Spocko and his loyal band of fifteen, a You-Tube video has generated more than 30,000 viewings. Sometimes, the nuts and kooks ought to just let things be, but, hey, it’s San Francisco.
