"The real test of a good parent is what you do AFTER they mess up." That's the point. A good parent doesn't all but abandon their daughter when she needs her the most and run for VP. A good parent doesn't knowing expose not only her own daughter but the father's to intense media scrutiny to fulfill the parent's ambition.

Maybe we should listen to what Barack said about families being off limit. Any parent in the world will tell you that kids will be kids and they sometimes do stupid things even despite your teaching. The real test of a good parent is what you do AFTER they mess up. I for one am more interested in that as a judge of some one's character rather than the failings of a child. Let's judge her on her record and her positions not her teenage daughter.

not so much in the films but Star Trek television series often had religious themes. My favorite was the episode where the "God" of a particular planet was causing all sorts of trouble and ready to destroy it, Kirk and the rest of the crew when it turned out "God" was a little kid whose parents had given him the planet as a play thing. When he's told to finish playing for the day, you hear the "Aw, Mom!" cry whens kids have to stop playing.

well it would take leadership and gravitas for Hillary to accept the veep slot, too, and that's never going to happen.

a better pick would be Kansas gov Kathleen Sebellius. That would put a woman on the ticket and placate the Clinton supporters that simply want a woman candidate, and it would help Obama in the white midwest.
