Any parent in the world will tell you that kids will be kids and they sometimes do stupid things even despite your teaching. The real test of a good parent is what you do AFTER they mess up. I for one am more interested in that as a judge of some one's character rather than the failings of a child. Let's judge her on her record and her positions not her teenage daughter. My favorite was the episode where the "God" of a particular planet was causing all sorts of trouble and ready to destroy it, Kirk and the rest of the crew when it turned out "God" was a little kid whose parents had given him the planet as a play thing.
