Interfaith Community Forum to Be Held Regarding the Concord Naval Weapons Station Reuse Plan

February 15, 2007 — EnviroJustice today announced its support of a moratorium on further industrial activity in the Traditional Territory of the Grassy Narrows First Nation until such time as the Governments of Canada and Ontario restore their honor and obtain the consent of the Grassy Narrows community in decisions that will forever alter the future of its people. EnviroJustice calls upon the federal and provincial governments to fulfill their obligations under treaty and other international and domestic laws to protect the rights of the people of Grassy Narrows and ensure that no logging or other resource extraction is carried out on their territory without their consent.

EnviroJustice Signs On to UPM-Kymmene Letter

December 20, 2006 — EnviroJustice today signed on to a letter sent to UPM-Kymmene, one of world's largest papermakers based in Finland. The letter demands that UPM stop its current use of pulp from the Indonesian producer APRIL unless the latter reforms its destructive practices. The letter highlights an acutely threatened forest area in Sumatra, Kampar Peninsula, to insert pressure towards APRIL to back off from its plans to clearcut the area.
